It is interesting that EVERY ASEAN country has a ministry-level Department for tourism (except only for Singapore). However, the tourism-related Ministries in ASEAN countries have a variety of scopes to account for, apart from the “Tourism” per se.
For example, Laos’s tourism–related Ministry is responsible for “Tourism” + “Information” + “Culture.” Such Ministry, in case of Myanmar, takes care of “Tourism” + “Hotels” instead.
It is to note that Vietnam and Thailand are the only ASEAN countries combine “Tourism” + “Sports” within the realm of its tourism–related Ministry
This unique perspective on the country’s mission on tourism, reflects at least to a certain extent, each country’s unique past experiences & developmental processes gone through, as well as how it foresees the future of “Tourism.”
